On Thursday Sept 21, CNN released ‘Euphoria’ actor Angus Cloud’s cause of death to be an accidental overdose. A spokesperson for the Alameda County Coroner’s office in California said, “Angus Cloud died from a lethal combination of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.”
Cloud played Fezco, a kind-hearted drug dealer in ‘Euphoria.’
“It’s heart-breaking to hear that the death of one of its key actors was due to an accidental overdose,” senior Riya Bajpaj said. “Angus Cloud was one of my favorite actors on the show, and it definitely won’t be the same without him.”
‘Euphoria’ centers around drug misuse, which senior Marina Josipović said was a “very tragic irony,” which she clarified is not to come off as disrespectful.
“To my knowledge, Angus Cloud’s father died, and it has been affecting him amongst other things,” Josipović said. “Unfortunately, it is ironic that Cloud died of a drug overdose, as the show he became known for is about the effects of drug use on a person and their relationships.”
In terms of what is to come, season two ended with Cloud’s character being shot, leaving his character’s death to be a question mark. Josipović believes that Cloud’s death will affect the show on multiple levels.
“His death will probably slow down the production of the next season not only because he is no longer alive to play his role, but also because it is definitely most affecting those close to him, including the cast of ‘Euphoria,’” Josipović said. “May he rest in peace.”
