With break around the corner, students are excited to go on the first “normal” spring break in 3 years.
Junior Orianna Piazza plans to visit her grandmother.
“Every year for Easter my family has gone down to Florida to visit my grandmother who’s 87,” Piazza said. “It’s hard for her to travel anymore so we all have to go to her.”
She also looks forward to her grandmother’s cooking, as one should.
“My grandmother’s cooking is so good, I wait every year for her borscht, which is a beet soup eaten on Easter,” Piazza said.
Piazza gets to spend time with her grandmother and be outdoors as well.
“[My grandmother] also lives on the coast, so the beach is another big draw,” Piazza said. “I don’t really spend tons of time with her throughout the year, so spring break is the only time I get to spend a whole week with her during the school year.”
Other students like Junior Julia Cheng are using spring break to visit colleges.
“I’ve been meaning to visit some colleges this year for the longest time, but I’ve been so busy,” Cheng said. “Now with spring break I can finally do so.”
Cheng hopes to learn more about potential choices to consider.
“I’m excited to see some of the places I may potentially be going to after high school, it’s really cool seeing the differences,” Cheng said.
However, she does have a sense of urgency.
“I’m also visiting colleges because I have one year left of full parental support,” Cheng said.
