The Statesmen Theatre program debuted their first play of the school year with “The Gifted Program,” which is set in a high school in Washington made up of stereotypical cliques.
The story revolves around a Dungeons and Dragons club, with four friends who are each struggling through their final high school years.
I’m excited for kids and adults who have been in high school [to see it],” Theatre director Bernard DeLeo said. “High school affects everybody. All of the dynamics keep going on. [The cast] totally relates to the play because stuff is universal in high school: cliques and true love being thwarted.
Junior Josh Gurdak said being an actor in the play felt fufilling.
“Being a part of the play was rewarding,” Gurdak said. “[I got] to see a group of people come together and form a cohesive production.”
