The hits “Gang Related” and “1-800-273-8255”, propelled Logic to the top of the charts. In early March, Logic released three singles and a mixtape called “Bobby Tarantino II”. It was his first release since his album Everyone, which released in May of 2017. Bobby Tarantino, an alter ego of Logic, is a celebration of Quentin Tarantino, a movie director and close friend of Logic’s. The mixtape is a follow up to his fourth mixtape, “Bobby Tarantino.” Artists 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa and Marshmello joined Logic in the new mixtape.

On Mar. 7, Logic teased the mixtape on Twitter with a segment of Adult Swim comedy “Rick and Morty.” The teaser appears first on the mixtape titled “Grandpa’s Spaceship.”

The first of the three singles released was “44 More”, a diss on the music and rap industry. The song is a follow up to a previous song in the first Bobby Tarantino mixtape, “44 Bars”. The newly released song details his frustration as a rising star in the rap industry. Logic, commonly known for his aggressive lyrics, fired shots at Harry Styles and Katy Perry, alleging that he sold more albums in the first week than either of them. The song was a refreshing return of the aggressive Logic that had been absent in his last album, Everyone.

In the mixtape, Logic also continued his trend of politically charged lyrics in his songs. In “Warm It Up”, Logic said that “Blue lives ain’t a race” a rebuttal to the “Blue Lives Matter” movement.

Logic intended for “Bobby Tarantino II” to be his last mixtape, but he shows no sign of stopping.
