The Fairfax County School Board selected Scott Brabrand as the finalist for the Superintendent, replacing Interim Superintendent Steven Lockard.
Brabrand currently serves as the Superintendent of the Lynchburg City Schools in Lynchburg, Virginia.
“I absolutely think [Dr. Brabrand] is a good choice,” junior and student advisory council member Emma Choi said. “He is really passionate about FCPS and this area.”
Choi and 20 other FCPS stakeholders participated in an interview committee where they aided in the selection.
“An important thing to be a strong Superintendent is to support the needs of the staff while keeping every single decision student centered,” System of Support Administrator Kevin Wallace said. “Regardless of the student’s graduation track or their academic abilities, it has to be student centered.”
The decision awaits final Board approval.
