Several members of the Black Student Union met for the Leadership Speaker Series, a collection of meetings and events to inspire young members of the community to use their full potential to be successful.
Various FCPS staff, in an effort to motivate and inspire black students, joined local business personnel to guide the youth in tactics and strategies to use in the real world.
They gathered multiple leaders from the community who have high ranking jobs such as business owners, CEOs and school Superintendents to speak to the attendees about how to use their voice.
Successful role models taught good business behavior, such as proper handshakes and having good eye contact, in an effort to set up the members of the community to be future leaders.
“It was helpful because they gave me a lot of advice and it was from a lot of different people, so I got a lot of different perspectives from it,” freshman Brianna Brown said.
The Leadership Speaker Series is just one of the numerous community-wide events the Black Student Union held during February for Black History Month.
