The Statesmen Star reward is a tribute to students and staff members who exemplify the 5 characteristics of the Statesmen Code of Honor: respect, responsibility, community, honesty and spirit. Students vote for four faculty members while the faculty members vote for four students per grade. Those selected each semester were invited to attend the breakfast in the culinary room last Friday, which was served by the Culinary Arts class. Although students are always encouraged to try illustrating such characteristics, some would say it’s more genuine for them.
“Being chosen for Statesmen Star doesn’t impact my desire to exemplify positive qualities,” junior Teddy Daniel said. “It’s nice to have them appreciated by teachers, but they are more of a natural part of my personality than something I actively try to express.”
As the school year goes on, staff members will continue to be on the lookout for those who show the statesmen characteristics for the second semester’s banquet.
