With all of the types of sports and athletes, it’s easy to forget about the players of the past.  Five alumni were inducted into the Marshall Hall of Fame at the football game on Sep. 9.

John Herbots, an alumni honored at the event for his past in track & field and unbeaten mile record of 4:21, reflected on the changes in the program between his and the current generation.

“The runners today are getting so much help with good coaching, good equipment [and] good nutrition that we didn’t have back in the early ’60s,” Herbots said.

The other four inductees were Jim Murray, Dusty Kuzma, Jacqueline Hargrove and Jimmie Lee Miller. The event allowed each of them to celebrate the early days of their athletic career.

“I was watching the Hall of Fame and it was super adorable seeing all of those older Statesmen back here reliving their glory days,” English teacher Chynna Wendell said.
