The Electronic Dance Music Club will play its first major gig ever at Viva Vienna on May 29.

The club, which was co-founded last spring by juniors Laurence Boyer and Bruce Stewart, was hired to close out on the main stage from 8 to 10 p.m.

“It’s actually our first big public event and it should be excellent,” Boyer said.

The club also hopes to bring a lot of energy to the stage through their musical selections for the night.

“It’s going to be high energy,” Stewart said. “Like Ultra music festival kind of stuff.”

While the EDM club will mainly be playing remixes of popular songs, they also plan to throw in surprises for their audience.

‘We might drop [some] new stuff, but that’s a surprise,” Stewart said. “You need to be there for it.”

Boyer believes that the benefits of this gig for the club can be significant, as the performance will not only boost publicity, but will also open up doors for future gigs.

“This gig will really get us out in the open. We’re hoping we can get a lot of people from Marshall, Madison, McLean, all the schools in the area,” Boyer said. “Hopefully after this gig at Viva Vienna we’ll be able to start performing at some of the school dances because we can offer higher quality music at a better price.”
