Anticipation is rising for coaches and athletes alike as the spring sport season draws nearer. Boys lacrosse coach Kevin Curtin feels excited for the upcoming season.

“I am always excited for spring sports,” Curtin said. “But with excitement there is anxiety to fulfill your goals.”

When it comes to goal fulfillment, varsity boys lacrosse has a lot of work to not only meet but surpass last season’s achievements. The team finished with their first winning season in 10 years as well as both conference and regional championship wins last year.

“Our goals are to win conference, advance out of regionals and give ourselves a chance to compete in state tournaments,” Curtin said.

Varsity lacrosse athlete and junior Noah Adler feels confident about the spring season.

“We are expecting to exceed our goals from last year,” Adler said. ”I have confidence we’ll make it to states.”

In addition to the varsity team, boys lacrosse also has high expectations for the boys junior varsity team.

“Many of the new freshmen show a lot of promise,” Adler said.

In addition to boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse is preparing as well for the upcoming season. Senior Sarah Smith wanted the team to start practicing earlier this offseason to work on mastering tougher skills.

“We are taking advantage of the green days and getting ready for tryouts by scrimmaging and working on the basics before the season begins,” Smith said. “We want to go further in the season this year so girls have been running track and getting their speed up so that we are ready to work on more advanced skills and plays right off the bat.”

Girls lacrosse also had a winning season last year, finishing with a 12-7 record and conference championship win, but a loss in the regional tournament.
