The administrative team that oversees Marshall High School will undergo several changes in the near future.
Brandon Wolfe, principal of co-facility, the John Davis Center, will take the position of interim assistant principal from January 5 onward. Wolfe has previously taken the roles of special education teacher, department chair, summer school principal, assistant principal, and dean of students.
“I look forward to utilizing Mr. Wolfe’s depth of knowledge and skills as we work collaboratively to move our school forward,” Principal Jeffery Litz said in an e-mail announcing Wolfe’s change in position.
In addition, Dean of Students Jim Franklin will take a temporary leave of absence to become interim assistant principal of McLean High School from January 5 to March 2.
Keziah Brown, the current administrative assistant in charge of attendance, will be promoted to the position of administrative assistant at Marshall Academy.
“It’ll be a little bit of a slower pace, ” Brown said. “I’m going to to miss everybody here because I really love the kids and the parents.”
Brown is very popular among students, many of them describing her as kind and friendly.
“She’s a really good attendance administrator and I’m glad she got the promotion,” freshman Curry Ward said.
This change in position stems from Marshall Academy’s current administrative assistant Diane Murphy’s retirement.
“I don’t know if I’ll miss the students more or the faculty more,” Murphy said. “Every day is different when you work in a school, so there’s absolutely nothing boring about being here. That’s the fun.”
Murphy has worked at the school for 28 years and plans to begin traveling the world.
Despite the numerous transitions in motion, Brown and her fellow administrators will continue to manage putting the new post-winter break attendance system in place.
“We’re going to do what we always do. We’re going to take it in stride and get the job done.” Brown said.
