With construction nearly completed, the new classrooms unveiled at the start of the school year hint at the technical achievement of the new renovations.
In addition to updated facilities and better technology, the new additions breathe life into once cramped classrooms and transform the look and feel of school inside and out.
“I love seeing how everything’s coming together,” senior Lucy Epshteyn said. “Everything is more modern and easier to deal with.”
Outwardly, construction changes have necessitated a new layout, with classrooms now labeled by both hallway letter and room number.
Though English classes have been restored to their original hall on the second floor, science rooms have been permanently relocated in the new wing.
History and social studies classes have also been moved to the first floor.
“It took a little getting used to, especially as a senior and [having been] here for 4 years,” Epshteyn said.
The classroom themselves have been completely redesigned with the intention of maximizing the limited space. Classrooms facing outside feature panoramic windows.
All of the new classroom are larger with higher quality furniture, reflecting the school’s more modern design.
Most of the new rooms are equipped with computers and ceiling mounted projectors, keeping in line with the school’s vision to make Marshall a more tech-savvy environment.
“There’s a lot of technological input and the teachers are definitely utilizing it to make the classroom environments easier to learn in,” Epshteyn said.
Currently, there are only two hallways unavailable to students. The classrooms being built here are planned to replace the trailers.
Barring any delays, renovations are expected to be fully completed by the end of the school year.
