tarting off the spring season with a win, varsity softball beat Lake Braddock High School 8-0 in their first scrimmage.
The team is raising money to buy new uniforms.
“If we [raise the money], they can be our gifts for future teams,” freshman Madison Martin said.
Varsity has three freshman: Martin, Mina Dunn, and Alexis McPhail.
“We have a pretty good balance on the team age-wise,” coach Laura Campbell said.
Martin has high hopes for varsity?s district success.
“I think this season we have a really good chance of winning because we have several really great players,” she said. “I think we can do it.”
Other players share Martin?s optimism.
“One of our team goals this year is to win districts,” senior and co-captain Christine Grilliot said. “In the past few years the team has really improved; we have new coaches and better equipment.”
